The Scouts Team would like to personally thank the WMS PTO and all of the parents who assisted the 6th grade class with their Thanksgiving Basket Project for our local Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers.
We had an abundance of basked goods that we used to fill our baskets. Your participation meant a lot to the people that received the baskets. They were very appreciative and pleased. The students were able to meet a lot of people that serve our community. We could not have done this without your assistance. Thank you very much!

WMS and WHS parents--if you received a letter from the school nurse stating that your child needed immunizations, please make those appointments ASAP and let the nurse know when they are scheduled. These are new state regulations-not our changes--but it is our job to enforce them within the school. For appointments, please call the Craighead county health unit at 933-4585 or you can contact Lawrence county at 886-3201 (they may have appointments available at a sooner date). Contact Holli Crowe (WMS) or Lori Kercheval (WHS) if you have any questions about what immunizations your child might need.

Thanks to all who volunteered, sponsored and/or participated in the 1st Annual Warrior Fun Run on October 11. You all showed up in a big way and as a result, our school district was able to donate $2,545.00 to Operation Tucker Freedom!! Awesome job Westside!
Monsanto awards grants to schools in our area every year. This grant is simply a "lottery drawing" of those farmers who complete a very short online form. HOWEVER, later this year we will apply for a $25,000 grant which is based on merit; we were a finalist for this grant last year. We hope to receive it this year, and we will again need our farmers' support in completing a second short, online form once we've completed that application in March. The Monsanto web site has even more information.
Americas Farmers Grow Communities sponsored by Monsanto: If you are a farmer or farm family in Craighead County and meet the requirements shown below, please take time to follow the link to complete the short form. If your name is “drawn” for Craighead County, please consider making a Westside School District program your chosen cause to support. One random entry per county will receive a $2500 award. Please share this with other farmers/wives who support the Westside School District.. DEADLINE: November 30, 2014 Thank you.
Follow the link above and click enroll from the list on the right side of the screen.
