WHS/Air Force Junior ROTC Cadet/Captain Jessica Gilbert has been selected to attend AFJROTC Flight Academy next summer.
Cadet Gilbert will attend an 8-10 week training course on a college campus and earn her Private Pilot’s License. This scholarship is valued at over $25,000.

The Band Boosters will have a meeting on Monday, December 5th at 6pm in the WHS Band Room. All band parents are encouraged to attend.
The play “Dearly Departed” will be performed March 16, 17 and 18th, 2023 as the 1st alumni show ever done at Westside High School. So all of you theatre people , or wish you were, who graduated from Westside High School are invited to audition for this crazy show!
Auditions will be Dec. 15 and 16th from 4:00-6:00 in the MultiPurpose bldg on the WHS campus. If you cannot make the auditions at that time please get a message to me so we can do that at another time. We are so excited to produce this show and I look forward to meeting you!! THE STORY: In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father’s funeral, the Turpins’ other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion: Firstborn Ray-Bud drinks himself silly as the funeral bills mount; Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a pack of no-neck monster kids, and a wife who suspects him of infidelity in the family car; their spinster sister, Delightful, copes with death as she does life, by devouring junk food; and all the neighbors add more than two cents. As the situation becomes fraught with mishap, Ray-Bud says to his long-suffering wife, “When I die, don’t tell nobody. Just bury me in the backyard and tell everybody I left you.” Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.

Congratulations to our FFA trap team for winning 1st in state yet again this year! Team members are Luke Hiser, Hayden James, Blaine West, Lucas Primm, & Hunter Walpole.
Luke Hiser also placed 1st in the Eastern District and 2nd in state for overall male shooter at the state FFA trap shoot!

WHS students, Matti Eldridge and Georgia Spinks, competed at the regional Educators Rising conference held today at Arkansas State University. They won first place in the Interactive Bulletin Board category. They will now be able to compete at the state competition in Hot Springs. Great job, ladies!

Attention 8th grade parents. Some students received an invitation to attend Westside Scholar Academy. The original deadline for returning those forms was Friday, November 11th. We are extending that deadline to this Friday, November 18th and will begin the academy after Thanksgiving break. Please make sure to get your student’s form turned in by this Friday if they plan to attend.

Warrior Events for November 14th - 19th!
The WHS Jr/Sr Boys Basketball vs Ridgefield game on Thursday, November 10th has been cancelled by Ridgefield. This game has been rescheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022 at 6pm with Jr Boys playing first game and Sr Boys to follow.
Westside FFA had a great showing yesterday at the subarea leadership competition. Parliamentary Procedure team placed first. Members are Allie R., Ashlee H., Kaitlyn M., Kaylee J., Conner L., and David L.
In Prepared Speaking, Ashlee H. placed first. Abby E. placed third. Rylee L. placed first in Discussion Meet and Extemporaneous Speaking. David L. placed second in Creed Speaking, and Allie R. placed third in Job Interview. The students will be competing in the District competition in December.

Several Westside High School students took a tour on Monday of the Project Search Program which is hosted and partnered with St. Bernards. Students are learning about opportunities that are available to them as they work on their post secondary planning.
