Westside families,
At the May 11, 2026 Board meeting, the Board approved adjusting the last day of school, Thursday, May 21, 2026, to a half day for students.
Earlier this semester, our district was closed from January 26 through February 2 due to ice-covered roads. As part of our make-up plan, February 5, which was originally scheduled as a half day for students followed by PLC work for teachers, was changed to a regular instructional day. Because of that adjustment, we are able to dismiss early on the last day of school while still meeting the required instructional hours under our alternate calendar.
School will dismiss at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. With this adjustment, the district will still have 1,068.5 instructional hours for the 2025-2026 school year.
We hope you enjoy your summer, and we cannot wait to see everyone back when school starts again on August 13.

❤️🤍A Little Piece of Westside in Downtown Jonesboro ❤️🤍
One of our own is sharing the beauty of Westside with the city of Jonesboro in a truly special way.
Hi friends, I’m Cady Honeycutt 👋🏼
Every weekday morning, I drive a school bus for Westside. Because I have an extended route, I typically begin my drive in the dark. This also means I get to see the sunrise every morning. Part of my route takes us down dirt roads that are sandwiched between fields and fields. And even more fields.
Honestly, the view never gets old. I love seeing the world wake up slowly - the colorful morning rays peeking over the tree tops, the crops gently swaying in the wind, the birds gracefully flittering by. It’s something I look forward to every single morning.
Occasionally, The Foundation of Arts in Jonesboro opens submissions to beautify traffic control boxes throughout the area. I have always been intrigued by the different designs chosen and wanted to be a part of it. This year, when the FOA announced they were accepting submissions, I knew exactly what I wanted to send in.
I painted this awe-inspiring scene in hopes of being selected. After a month or so, I was contacted by the FOA notifying me that I was selected to paint the traffic control box on Matthews and Church Street in downtown Jonesboro. My jaw dropped with equal amounts of shock and excitement.
I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to share a glimpse of the hard work and dedication our Westside community provides to NEA.
